Kapha Dosha
Kapha is comprised of water and earth. It provides stability, lubrication, structure, substance and support, strength and immunity, and enhances resistance to disease and promotes the healing process. Qualities of Kapha are moist, heavy, dense, soft, sticky, static, cool/cold and sweet.
Characteristics of a Kapha dominant dosha; these folks have strong bodies with a large frame, strong teeth, thick hair and smooth pale skin. Slow digestion can often lead to weight gain. Kapha individuals are blessed with a deep, stable faith that embodies love and compassion. They have a steady mind and good memory. When out of balance Kaphas may become lethargic and show mental inertia.

Kapha Subdoshas
Kledaka Kapha is located in the upper part of the stomach region. It governs the moistening and liquefying of the food in the initial stages of digestion.
Avalambaka Kapha governs the lubrication of the heart and lungs. It supports the heart and lumbar region and gives strength and stamina to the upper back and chest.
Bodhaka Kapha is located in the mouth and throat. It is responsible for moistening the tongue, secretion of mucus in the mouth and the perception of taste.
Tarpaka Kapha is located in the head (predominantly white mater of the brain), sinus and cerebrospinal fluid. It governs calmness contentment and stability.
Shleshaka Kapha governs all the lubrication of the joints. It nourishes the surfaces of the cartilage and joints to promote ease of movement.
